Introducing to you Caleb

Hello

Hi and here with you is this guy named Caleb a regular internet user and a software developer.

I create this blog specifically for the sake of and as a requirement of my internship with Outreachy. This is one of few other blog posts I'll be releasing to document my progress and journey through this internship. I may decide to keep updating whatever I'm up to on this blog even after my internship with Outreachy—I guess we'll see.

I really need to introduce my self and I gotta give you something more than a name and a job title, I guess, so let's go 🥂

Who is this guy?

Pardon me! Basically I'm a JavaScript guy who loves Python, fancies Rust and hangs around in Nigeria. I'm equally a frontend developer as a backend engineer. I just don't compare between the two, cause I handle them almost perfectly well (or so I think). I mean a backend developer that knows how to center a div and all, c'mon.

I'm a really curious guy who thinks learning how things work is fun. It really is! I love quality things and I never think there is something not worth the effort of squeezing even the tiniest bit of quality into. Basically, I hate doing the same thing over and over, but if I have to, I love to do it differently and better than I ever did. And I suppose that's growth. Yunno, that I can look at my work from three months ago and cringe, like “Oh, no! That wasn't me!” 🤣. I think that perfection doesn't exist gives room for improvement, hence growth.

Scope of internship

I'll be working with the Debian JS Team on testing and building Webpack 5 and Node.js 16 with reverse-dependent packages, report bugs, create fixes and patch.

I really love this because I have always had a thing for Open Source Software (OSS) and now with Outreachy, I get to contribute to such a large community. I mean, to think that I'm a part of something that big gives me this sense of belonging and responsiblity. That I'll be doing something different from what I've been doing over the years also makes this sound fun. New things to learn, new experiences to gain and new connections to make. Now ain't that beautiful, huh?

I really should release you now. Catch you some other time. Thank you!
